What We Collect

• Location data: GPS coordinates (latitude, longitude, altitude, speed) sent by your device while you're actively sharing. This is the core of what Yo Jerry! does — show your crew where you are on the mountain.
• Device info: Device type (e.g. "garmin", "browser") and device name during pairing. We use this to prioritize more accurate GPS sources (watch over phone).
• Account info: Display name, optional email address (for account recovery), and optional profile fields (what you're wearing, avatar type, emoji avatar, or uploaded avatar image).
• Club membership: Which clubs you've joined and your role in them.

How We Use It

• Show your real-time location to members of clubs you've joined
• Render heatmaps and breadcrumb trails on the map
• Display your avatar and profile to other club members

Who Can See Your Location

• Club members: Anyone in the same club can see your exact location while you're sharing
• Link viewers: If your club is set to "link share" or "public," anyone with the link or browsing public clubs can see member locations
• No one else: We don't sell, share, or provide your data to third parties, advertisers, or analytics services

Data Retention

• Location pings automatically expire and are deleted after 24 hours
• We run hourly cleanup to remove expired data
• You can delete all your location history at any time from your profile
• You can delete your entire account and all associated data at any time

Your Controls

• Stop sharing: Turn off location sharing at any time — we immediately stop recording your position
• Delete history: Wipe all your location data instantly
• Delete account: Permanently remove your account, location history, club memberships, and all associated data
• Leave clubs: Remove yourself from any club at any time
• Logout all devices: Invalidate all active sessions if you suspect unauthorized access

Data Storage

• All data is stored on our servers (AWS Lightsail, US West region)
• Database is SQLite with encrypted-at-rest storage
• All connections use HTTPS (TLS 1.2+) via Cloudflare
• Auth tokens are UUID v4 — no passwords are stored in plaintext

Garmin Connect IQ Apps

Our Garmin watch apps (Yo Jerry! data field and Sidecountry Ski activity) send the same location data listed above to our servers while you're actively sharing. Activity data (GPS track, speed, altitude, vertical) is also recorded locally on your watch as a standard FIT file and syncs to Garmin Connect — this data stays on your device and Garmin's servers, not ours.

Cookies & Local Storage

• We use browser localStorage to keep you logged in (auth token, display name)
• We do not use tracking cookies, analytics pixels, or third-party trackers
• A service worker caches map tiles for offline use — no personal data is cached

Children

Yo Jerry! is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

We may update this policy. Significant changes will be noted in the app.
